Philadelphia Restoration Driver License Lawyer

Winning back your license, or having the ability to get one, means that you are no longer in the mercy of your friends’ availability for rides or relying on the schedule of public transportation. Bid adieu to being dependent on everyone else and the public transit to getting around and say hello to independence once again. Here at The Law Offices of Greg Prosmushkin, P.C. our experienced traffic attorneys have spent tremendous amounts of time in the Philadelphia traffic courts. This experience has allowed our attorneys to provide clients with an aggressive approach to fighting license suspensions, and help them to achieve the best possible outcome.

Have you received a notice from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) that your license has been suspended or revoked? Attempting to find out what caused your suspension or how to fix it can be a frustrating process. Our attorneys have extensive experience in restoring people’s licenses.

Risk of Ignoring Your Suspension Notice

If you received a notice that your license was suspended, ignoring it or assuming it will go away carries several risks. If you are stopped by police, you can be cited with driving under suspension, or driving under suspension, DUI related. These two citations carry either a one- or two-year additional license suspension, in addition to what you may have to serve. These citations may also carry jail time, which is imposed at the discretion of the judge hearing the case.

PennDOT also imposes harsher penalties on those who they deem to be “Habitual Offenders”, such as doubling the penalty on your citation. For example, if you have received three or more driving under suspension citations within a certain amount of time, PennDOT can double your penalty, so your one-year license suspension then becomes a two-year license suspension.

If your license is suspended or revoked, you must take steps to get credit for your suspension and see if you can correct the issue that caused the suspension in the first place. Our attorneys have experience dealing with PennDOT, and correcting the underlying reasons your license could have been suspended. Those reasons can be traffic related, or related to other aspects of your past.

Suspension Credit

Oftentimes, your ongoing suspension could be caused by failing to acknowledge your suspension when you first received your notice. Our attorneys have seen cases where a ten day suspension turns into years-long suspension. This is caused by failing to acknowledge your suspension in a timely fashion. We can help you get credit for the time that you did not drive.

Underlying Issues

Many times, your license suspension is caused by underlying issues. In Pennsylvania, there are a number of non-license violations that can cause a license suspension. These non-driving violations can include underage drinking, drug violations, or a prison release requirement, among others.

At the end of the day, hiring an attorney can help to ensure you handle your license suspension issue, as well as any underlying issue you may have.
